Video Editing 101 with Adobe Premiere

REFLECTION REPORT 01

I. Details of the event/activity

The title of the event that we organized was Video Editing 101 with Adobe Premiere, held on December 4, 2022, 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM. The event was conducted online via Google Meet.

II. Reflections on the webinar/activity give rise to (learnings)

After hosting the event, properly editing video files and making them look professional was difficult. I was fascinated by the various techniques applied to ensure that shots and scenes flowed seamlessly. Furthermore, the amount of time that goes into editing a single video can be very long.

Overall, the event made me realize just how valuable video editing is. The process is something that is often overlooked and undervalued. No words can describe its importance, as it has the potential to bring stories to life, evoke emotion and educate viewers. With the proper knowledge and skills, video editors can create works of art that captivate and inspire. Moreover, video editing is no longer just a tool used by professional editors but also by the everyday user who wants to add a bit of sparkle to home movies or projects.

III. Reflections on possibilities on implementing some of the webinar input on a practical level (practical application of learnings)

I was able to get a firsthand glimpse into how to use video editing for practical applications in the real world. The demonstration and discussion around the available tools showed me how versatile and powerful Adobe Premiere is.

From a practical point of view, video editing can be utilized in various fields, such as documentary filmmaking, advertising, education, corporate video production, and personal projects. A proper video editing workflow can be the deciding factor of a project’s success or failure. In conclusion, I have finally fully understood the importance of video editing and its practical applications in the real world.

IV. Positive feedback (on the event organization)

The event went smoothly, even as a first-timer on organizing one. There were no slip-ups or mishaps that happened all throughout the end.

V. Suggestions for improvements to be made/consider for future activities

Though the event was successful, it was a bit plain compared to other events organized by fellow students. Maybe adding more sections and graphical illustrations that display the current portion of the event such as the Q&A Portion would help.
